FAO has been deeply engaged in the SDGs since their design. We are interested to further learn and share collegially about progress towards them, and how best our agency can contribute.

By reviewing synthesized evidence on the effectiveness of interventions for the Planet Pillar SDGs, the IEU can learn from the experiences of other organizations and contribute to global knowledge sharing on best practices for sustainable development.

The ILO Evaluation Office is participating in this exercise to ensure that evaluative evidence is utilized to its fullest potential, thereby contributing to the attainment of decent work for all and advancing the broader SDG agenda.

The Joint SDG Fund has joined the Synthesis Coalition to provide evidence and support based on its lessons and assessments in areas of integrated SDG policy and financing and later on to incorporate lessons and findings from the syntheses into its future programming to accelerate SDG transformations.

OIOS is pleased to join the SDG Synthesis Coalition to help ensure that the lessons and contributions of the 76 entities of the United Nations Secretariat to the SDGs are included in this important synthesis initiative.

We realize the value and the power of synthesis work. We all know that there is a wealth of information, and that shared amount of information means that it is easy for key insights to be lost. Synthesizing evaluation knowledge makes it easier to extract and to communicate what is vital, what is important, what is the evaluative evidence that needs to be considered.

One of the reasons to be part of the Global SDG Synthesis Coalition is a learning potential, another important reason is that it has a transformative potential by aggregating vast evidence, identifying gaps, and putting a spotlight on acceleration of the SDGs. 

The coalition presents an unparalleled opportunity to examine a broad array of evidence from interventions that seek positive environmental outcomes. The idea of applying the latest data science and AI technology to add substantial value to existing knowledge and information through a credible and highly participatory multi-actor process is an approach not to be missed.

Since achievement of SDGs can only be the result of aggregated contributions from governments, private sector and national and international organizations, we all need to learn and understand what is working, what is not, and what need to be done differently to reach those global goals.

The work of the SDG Synthesis Coalition is truly essential to produce a bird's eye view of the entire global evidence base as it relates to the SDGs, recognizing that this may often contradict insights from single studies. We desperately need this deeper insight to be able to see the whole forest, not just the isolated trees, to stand a chance of recovering lost ground and attaining the SDGs in this last decade for action” (Kerry Albright, UNICEF)

As one of the first UN entities to regularly produce meta-syntheses of evaluation results, including in particular on the SDGs, UNODC's Independent Evaluation Section has joined the SDG Synthesis Coalition to contribute with methodological know-how and substantive expertise to this important system-wide exercise.

Strengthening evaluation coherence within the UN system is a major area of work for UNFPA's Evaluation Office. UNFPA is regularly involved in joint evaluations and synthesis exercises and is proud to be an active member of the Management Group for the Global SDG Synthesis Coalition.

WFP has joined the SDG Coalition to support consolidation of evidence to inform decisions about what is needed to achieve the SDGs.
